Johnson Medical School. She continued her training by completing an Internal
Medicine Residency and Endocrinology and Metabolism Fellowship at the University
of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Gillis Funderburk is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and is currently practicing at
Capital Health.
Albert Empedrad, MD
Dr. Empedrad received his medical degree from the University of the Phillipines College of Medicine in Manila, Phillipines. He continued his training by completing an internal medicine residency at Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, NY. He also completed his fellowship training in endocrinology at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He is board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology.
Yan Wu, MD, PhD, FACE
Dr. Wu received her medical degree from Peking Union Medical College in Beijing, China. She continued her training by completing an internship and residency at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ and fellowship training in endocrinology at New York University School of Medicine in New York, NY. Dr. Wu was assistant professor of medicine at UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and at Cooper University Hospital’s Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. She is board certified in internal medicine as well as endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. She also speaks fluent Chinese.
Cathy Wright, BSN, RN, CDE
Cathy received her bachelor of science in nursing from Villanova University in 1993. She was awarded her certification in diabetes education in 1996 by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators. Cathy's professional experience has involved both management of staff and providing diabetes education for individuals, groups and communities. She is part of the Capital Endocrinology provider team and is an instructor for Diabetes Care at Capital Health.
